Hey there, digital entrepreneur! I’m back with more pearls of wisdom. I’ve been on the affiliate marketing bandwagon for a while now. Try this quick-start program for taking action.
Today, let’s dive deep into how to make a cool $100 a day with your affiliate marketing WordPress site. So, let’s get started!
The Problem with the Traditional Approach
Now, let’s talk turkey. The traditional approach to building passive-income niche sites is great. The problem is that it takes a lot of time and resources to put together.
Here’s the traditional method in a nutshell:
- Niche Selection: Identify a profitable and personally interesting niche.
- Keyword Research: Find high-search, low-competition keywords.
- Content Creation: Craft valuable content targeting these keywords.
- Monetization: Earn revenue via affiliate marketing, AdSense, or your own products or services.
- SEO: Optimize both on-page content and off-page reputation through backlinks.
- Traffic Generation: Promote your site and content to attract visitors.
- Scaling: replicate your success by creating more sites in different niches.
While effective, this traditional approach is often time-consuming, competitive, and dependent on Google’s fickle and fluctuating algorithm. When you’re starting out, this can be overwhelming.
Those who are just starting out rarely understand how much effort it takes to get the ball rolling. If you don’t have much experience in this venture, you’re likely to burn out or drop out.
Yep, I said it. So, it’s time to shake things up.
A Solid Three-Step Method: The Nitty-Gritty
Here’s the three-step recipe for the secret sauce: It might not be glamorous, but it sure as hell is practical. You’ll need to invest in tools to make this work effectively. There is no free lunch.
Step 1: Brainstorm away!
Scribble down as many niche ideas as you can conjure. Tony Robbins said, ”Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.”_ So ask yourself what interests you.
The tool to invest in at this point is Ahrefs. I’m not going into great detail here, but this tool will vastly increase your chance of profitability within a year.
Use the service to identify profitable niches within your area of interest. Analyze your selection and choose the sub-niche that works best for your overall plan.
Step 2: Size Up Your Niche
Next, weigh the profitability of your chosen niche. Look for a broad range of reviewable products, high-priced products with low volume, and affiliate programs ready to roll.
In this type of project, I would look for a niche that has products that either have recurring monthly subscriptions or are high-ticket items. If you’re going to derive a meaningful monthly income, you’ll want to go for the gold.
Use Ahrefs to get a picture of your profitability based on your proposed affiliate compensation. Get started reading up on and viewing the tutorials at Ahrefs.com/academy.
Step 3: Set Up Shop
Snag a domain, hosting, and a premium theme. Then get down to crafting top-notch content that will make Mark Cuban sit up and take notice. Use Ahrefs and ChatGPT to build a large library of content ideas based on your niche research.
You can build a comprehensive content strategy at this point because you’re going to build out your site based on keyword grouping. Organizing your site is important for both search engines and visitors.
The Content: Your Golden Goose
Let’s create some dangerously good content. Think review posts, tutorial posts, and list posts — these are your bread and butter. You’re going to be focusing on keyword competition and buyer intent when laying out your master plan.

Affiliate Programs — The Secret to Monetizing Your Site
It’s time to investigate affiliate programs a little deeper. You’ll want companies that align with your niche. Remember, ”If you don’t find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.” Wise words from Warren Buffett.
I’m going to recommend that, as a beginner, you start with Amazon.com. Two issues I do have with their affiliate system are their stingy compensation and micromanaging practices. There are ways around that, however.
Amazon is easy to get going; they have massive brand recognition, and they do pay consistently. There are plenty of high-ticket items to choose from as well. One of the best affiliate programs to get into is Audible.com.
Keyword Research — Your Key to Higher Rankings
Screw all the paid SEO keyword research tools, I’m giving away free keyword research information for you to rank higher. Just make sure to like and follow my website!
Here are the best FREE keyword research tools out there:
- Answer the Public
- Ubersuggest
- Ahref keyword planner
- ChatGPT keyword prompter
You need to befriend keywords that have low competition but have a high search volume. It’s like finding the golden ticket in your chocolate bar — rare, but oh so sweet when it happens.
Once again, Ahrefs can tackle this issue with you to make the process much less taxing. I’m leaning on a basic plan to keep things simple.
On-Site SEO — Your Secret Weapon
Spruce up your on-site SEO using plugins to make this optimization possible. There are plenty of SEO plugins that can do the job, but I’m leaning again on Ahrefs for simplicity.
That’s because they will also be doing the heavy lifting for organizing our content. We’ll use ChatGPT as an integral part of the process, but when it comes to choosing the right keywords, gathering necessary information, and sorting buyer intent, we can’t leave anything to chance.
We’ll need to do some link-building (both internal and external) for maximum effect. We’ll need to satisfy our visitors, so the content must be right on.
Overdeliver and the search engines will love you for it.
Promotion — Be Your Own Cheerleader
Promote your site through personal networks, social media, and outreach to other blogs and influencers in the niche. Help your audience, and they’ll return the favor.
We’re not going to wait for Google to find us and offer its blessing. We’ll need an outreach program to promote our content. That’s another component that Ahrefs will fill.
Find well-established sites that we can submit content to, others that we should link to, and vice versa. Look for guest blogging opportunities and optimize link building.
We can create a free digital product for our visitors to get as a gift for visiting. That leads to our email marketing efforts.
Email Lists – Your Golden Ticket
Build an email list by offering free, valuable content. Treat your subscribers right, and they’ll do the heavy lifting when it comes to affiliate promotions.

ChatGPT and AI image generation can make the creation of that content easy as pie. The research and creation of the free offer, along with email marketing like Convertkit, allow you to build a long-lasting relationship with your visitors that translates to ongoing sales.
If you’re a content creator like many of my readers, this is right up your alley. You may already have tools that can get you the results you’re looking for.
At the bottom of the article, I’ve listed the basic tools that can get you started. I’m not including any affiliate links here, just tools that you can research and try on your own.
Growth – Your Endgame
Finally, keep on keeping on. Keep creating content, reaching out to influencers, and improving your site. It’s not just about making a quick buck; it’s about growing a long-term business.
Take a look at your income goals and break down your market to ensure that you’ve chosen a topic and niche that can support your goals. Take action.
Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy’s, once said, ”What do you need to start a business? Three simple things: know your product better than anyone, know your customer, and have a burning desire to succeed.”_
A 30-Day Quick Start Guide

After 30 days, you should have a decent affiliate marketing WordPress site up and running. But remember, this is just the beginning. The real work lies ahead. Lots of it.
Keep refining, keep learning, and keep growing your business.
How to Promote Your Blog
Now, let’s take it up a notch. Your blog won’t promote itself, so you need to be its biggest cheerleader. Here are some pointers:
- Share your posts on your personal social media accounts. Remember to use relevant hashtags!
- Join niche-specific groups and forums, be an active member, and share your content where appropriate.
- Reach out to influencers in your niche. Could you get them to share your content, or better yet, collaborate with them?
- Write guest posts for other blogs in your niche. It’s a win-win situation: they get quality content, and you get exposure.
- Create a YouTube channel that connects to your blog and promotes it through videos.
So, there you have it, my entrepreneurial friends. You now have a straightforward, realistic blueprint to make $100 a day with an affiliate marketing WordPress site.
What about expenses?
So, how much is all this going to cost? Let’s say we want to make $100 a day as our starting goal. We’re going to go all out for six months to achieve our initial goal.
Let’s do some itemization:
- Ahrefs basic plan — $99.00
- Ahrefs SEO plugin — free
- Convertkit monthly plan — free
- ChatGPT Plus — $20.00
- VidIQ Pro — $7.50
- PictoryAI — $50.00
Of course, there can be more stuff to purchase, but this is a good start. You’re looking at $200 a month. I would add a Midjourney account or Adobe subscription for graphics. If you can’t handle all that, you can hire someone out.
Now, keep in mind that promoting your content is going to be a big part of your daily operation. This is a promotional business and needs to be treated as such in order for it to work.
Be sure to keep accurate accounting because a lot of your expenses are going to be reported on your tax forms. It will take time to gain momentum.
You won’t see overnight success, but as Warren Buffett famously said, ”Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.”
You’re planting your tree today.
